Day 14 North to Alaska
Weds, June 2nd, 2010………Wenatchee, Wa….0 miles.
Wenatchee, Washington.
We had arrived late the previous night and in the rain. I checked into the Best Western and Merritt chose a cheaper option across the street. I typically do not like to share a room and prefer traveling alone, especially on extended trips. I found this helps to maintain friendships and avoid going to jail on manslaughter charges. I agreed to share accommodations with Merritt to help offset his costs, since he took a month off without pay to do this ride. Every three days, I would get my own room to allow for some privacy and my chance to run around naked in my room.
Weds was spent hold up in the Best Western due to weather. The rain was not so heavy in Wenatchee but was firm on our route south. I was sick of riding in the rain and it seemed a waste to pass up so much beautiful country, unable to see with my fogged up and rain beaded face shield. I caught up on laundry, route planning, blogging and I took a nap. Merritt visited his sister and the break away from each other, helped break the monotony of being in each others company 24/7.
I checked my machine. Tires and oil were looking good, front brake pads were serviceable but my Canadian Bug Collection on the windscreen was getting washed off by the rain. I do not view my machine being dirty to be a sin. On the contrary, I view the accumulation of bugs and dirt as a silent testimony to where I’ve been and all that I have seen.
A major storm system was moving in and we were destined to get wet, so the next day we would push on.
