ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Well last night I got back from a Cruise to Cozumel and now I’m on the road again. I set out at 0900 hrs. this morning, on my 2000 BMW 1150GS, for a 5,000 mile ride to California and back. My immediate plan is to link up with some of my friends from the S.F. Bay area in Bridgeport, Ca for some camping and fishing on Monday Aug 2nd. After riding the eastern Sierra Nevada Mtns, I will head into the Bay Area to see friends and enjoy some Northern California roads and beat the Texas heat.
This morning, I hastily unpacked from my cruise and then threw some clean underwear into my bag and packed the machine. I activated my SPOT Tracker and with the threat of rain looming, my first stop was to grab some morning Mojo (Coffee), at Ciafrani’s in Georgetown, Tx. It was time to catch up on some emails, start this Post and grab a light breakfast.

Plan “A” is to hit I-10 westbound as soon as possible and get as far west as I can over the next two days. I usually avoid Slab riding but the more miles I cover over the next few days, the sooner I can enjoy the cooler climate of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. I am wearing my perforated Joe Rocket gear but have my Aerostich suit ready to go on the back of the bike in case of heavy rain. The cloud cover is keeping it cool (Mid 80’s) but muggy and I anticipate temperatures in excess of 105 degrees through Arizona and souther California.
I left my camping gear at home and will Motel it most of the time, with some stays with various friends. I just couldn’t see lugging my camping gear around for two weeks for only two nights of Camping. Armed with a digital camera and my Iphone, I plan to take some good pics for posting here and on Facebook. Well time to get back to my coffee and then hit the road. I’ll check in with you later.
