“The Long Way Down” Movie Review
Last Thursday I attended the special one day showing of “The Long Way Down”, “Directors Cut”. This was a 2 hour scaled down version of the original documentary, which is six parts long and due to be released on DVD in the States.
I went to the Cinemark Theaters in Pflugerville, Texas with my friends Bob Head and Fred Rawlinson for the 7:30 showing. I was glad I got my tickets early, as the theater soon sold out all 150 seats. We grabbed a quick dinner at Popeye’s Chicken, having gotten a late start and took the theaters advice to arrive early and get a choice seat. We got to the theater at 6:30 and were able to get the best seats in the house but soon after, the seats filled up fast.
You could tell most of the patrons rode to the showing based on their attire and it appeared that at least two motorcycle clubs had made this an evening ride destination.
Actors Ewan MacGregor and Charles Borman, “The Long Way Down”
The movie covers the 86 day adventure as Ewan MacGregor and Charles Borman ride their BMW’s from Scotland south through Great Britain, across the Channel through Europe, into Africa down it’s length and breadth on their way to the Southern Tip. The 15,000 mile odyssey is not without it’s excitement and the drama that comes with a trip of such magnitude. Humor was present through out and is more much appreciable if you have ever partaken in multi-day trips on a motor bike.
I am not going to go into detail, as I really think this is a must see movie if you ride a motorcycle for enjoyment. This movie is destined to join the ranks of its predecessor “The Long Way Round”, “On Any Sunday” and “Dust to Glory” as a cult film for serous Motorcyclist but it is a film that can be enjoyed by everyone. If you ride you must buy it, if not, you should at least rent it. You can place order at Amazon.com, Click on the pic below for the link:
This is a movie you can enjoy with your family and they will get a taste of what you experience on your own adventures and why you like to ride.
The Biker Grannies give this movie, multiple “Fingers Up!”
