Return from the Dragon
June 4th
Well, so much for my 720 mile ride day. The sweltering summer heat (98 degrees) beat me here in the deep south. After 250 miles I called it quits and opted to stop in Clinton Mississippi.
Here is todays SPOT track.
There is something to be said for the “Deep South” but all I can think of is Malaise. Folks here move slow and I’m attributing that to the heat. I stopped briefly at a Starbucks to cool off and check my email. My kickstand sunk 1″ into the melting asphalt.
I’lll try to beat the heat in the a.m. by leaving before dawn and hope to make the last 500 miles before dinner tomorrow. Time for a nice cool shower and my Dominos delivery. Tomorrow’s forecast is wet heat once again. Its one of the few times I have prayed for rain on a motorcycle ride. I sure miss the dryer Texas heat.
Stay tuned.
