Where is Zeke?
I recently bought a satellite tracking device called “SPOT, Satellite Messenger”.
I am trying it out this week in preparation for a group ride in June and the Utah 1088 rally. I want to check out the battery life and how it performs. The device will transmit my location every ten minutes and you can view it via Google maps from the server. You can choose the style of the map, zoom in and pan around.
Spot will create a record I can review later and works via Satellite, so it will work in areas where this is no cell service. For instance, I can hit the 911button and it will send EMS personnel to my location. Or, I can hit the help button and it will send an email message or text message to my friends, who can call me a tow truck. I can also hit the check button and it will let a loved one know I am Okay and on schedule.
If you want to follow my test this week click here “Where is Zeke” and it will open up the view in another tab or window. If you bookmark that page and put it on your tool bar, you will be able to follow some of my trips. I will let you know when I am ready to embark so you’ll know when to check it out.
